Is it really worth it to hire an expensive wedding photographer in Uganda for your wedding?

In Uganda, the cost of a cheap wedding photographer is 40–50 years of regret for not hiring someone who knew what they were doing.

To put it bluntly, the wedding photographs are the only thing that will outlive the event itself.

They are, in fact, the only things that will outlast the marriage.

Those photographs and videos may be the only item or proof people know about you in 2–3 generations.

I’ve seen photographers in Uganda advertise weddings on social media for as cheap as 1,500,000 Ugx. And, well, I understand. That is the pricing range of certain folks. Poverty is a very significant issue in Uganda. I speak from experience when I suggest that you can hire an amateur off the street to do your wedding for a low cost. I know because Spanora Media was once that inexperienced. We’ve offered Ugx 2,500,000 or less for a wedding coverage and had other professionals yell at us for undercutting them. There is always someone lower priced and someone higher expensive.

Don’t worry about offering high shelf booze vs well drinks—when they’re intoxicated, no one cares. Turn down the volume on the flowers; they’re already dead. Instead of a big meal, serve small nibbles. Spend the money on the greatest photographer you can afford, even if it isn’t Spanora media! You (and future generations) will be grateful for your investment.

They say that a woman’s wedding is the happiest day of her life; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event to be remembered. So, if you truly want to record these precious moments, I believe you should invest in a skilled photographer to get those exceptional photos. For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so why not go all out?
